Arrogance of Authority

A DEA officer stopped at a ranch in Texas and talked with an old rancher.
He told the rancher, "I need to inspect your ranch for illegally grown drugs."
The rancher said, "Okay, but don't go in that field over there..." and he pointed the location.
The DEA officer verbally exploded saying, "Mister, I have the authority of Federal Government with me!"
Reaching into his rear pants pocket, he removed his badge and proudly displayed it to the rancher.
"See this badge! This badge means I am allowed to go wherever I wish... on any land!!"
"No questions asked and answers given!! Have I made myself clear?!"
The rancher nodded politely, apologized and went about his chores.
A short time later, the old rancher heard loud screams, looked up and saw the DEA officer running for his life, being chased by the rancher's big Santa Gertrudis bull....
With every step, the bull was gaining ground on the officer, and it seemed likely that he'd sure enough get gored before he reached safety. The officer was clearly terrified.
The ranger threw down his tools, ran to the fence and yelled at the top of his lungs....
"Your badge, show him your badge....!"

Wikipedia says …

"Laudato si' (Praise Be to You) is the second encyclical of Pope Francis. The encyclical has the subtitle "on care for our common home".[1] In it, the Pope critiques consumerism and irresponsible development, laments environmental degradation and global warming, and calls all people of the world to take "swift and unified global action."[2]"

What Francis means by "consumerism" is in the text of the letter.

The web address for ABCD is http://www.nurturedevelopment.org/
If you know of or come across anything you think might be better for our purpose than Village please let's look at it!

Democracy is pretty disempowering when you think about it.
Majority rules voting once every few years trying to find a representative who will speak accurately for you.
Social media like Twitter and Facebook have been somewhat empowering but they are quite limited and do not actually support structured discussion or outcomes.
ABCD asset based community development tries to empower communities but it does that through experts facilitation and training … creating leaders and followers. FLUX (https://voteflux.org/) is another attempt at greater empowerment … but it is still a submission to leaders.
Create Village is an attempt at overcoming all those difficulties.
There are glitches, and there will be unforeseen problems with the platform, but let's see if it can help us identify a process that empowers individuals and can scale up beyond Village size for which it was designed.
